We are very happy to announce that Bishop Lindsey Davis will appoint Rev. Jim Nichols to First United Methodist Church effective June 26.
Jim is an elder in the Kentucky Conference, having served appointments at Christ UMC (Louisville) and Lancaster UMC. Previous to his service in Kentucky, Jim was on the staff of Christ UMC in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and First UMC, Wetumpka, Alabama. A native of St. Petersburg, FL, he is a graduate of Bryan College and received his Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary.
Jim and his wife, Joy, have been married 18 years (as of May 23) and have three sons: Alex (13), Tyler (11), and Oliver Brennan, born in May of 2016. Jim also is the Kentucky Annual Conference Worship Chairperson, active in Lexington District leadership, board member of the Garrard County Habitat for Humanity, and Coach for the Garrard County Middle and High School Cross Country teams. Jim’s Kingdom concept is “to glorify God and make disciples by engaging and expecting kingdom moments in every day life through teaching, storytelling, counseling and sharing life.”
During their first month at First UMC, the Nichols family will visit each community and become acquainted with the whole congregation before Jim begins his assignment as Campus Pastor of the Andover community on July 31.
Be much in prayer for the Nichols family and extend a warm, loving welcome as they become part of our First Church family and ministry team.
